Scare Me
Director Josh Ruben | 2020 | 104 Mins | Horror/Dark Comedy | USA | English
World Premiere – Midnights – Sundance Film Festival 2020
Official Selection – Motel/X 2020
Official Selection – Fancine 2020
During a power outage, two strangers stuck together in the Catskills tell each other scary stories. The more Fred, a copywriter trying to pen his first novel, and successful young horror author Fanny commit to their tales, the more the stories come to life in the remote cabin. The horrors of reality manifest when Fred confronts his ultimate fear: Fanny may be the better storyteller!
Creepy and intelligent, and featuring a uniquely tense kind of chemistry between its two leads, SCARE ME will upend everything you think you know about the horror genre and make you question if there’s really ever anything really safely ‘familiar’ about getting scared. The film marks the feature writing-directing debut of actor and TV director Josh Ruben (Werwolves Within, The Late Late Show with James Corden), who also stars in the film alongside Aya Cash (Fosse/Verdon, You’re the Worst) and Chris Red (Saturday Night Live).
