MPI MEDIA GROUP
LAUNCHES MPI PICTURES
WITH SLATE OF SEVEN FILMS FOR 2012/13
Company will have increased profile at Cannes Film Market

Chicago, IL, 4/25/12

MPI Media Group, one of the leading independent and privately held entertainment companies, today announced it has created a new theatrical distribution division, MPI Pictures. MPI Pictures will launch this spring with an initial slate of seven films, including French box-office smash LITTLE WHITE LIES, Guillaume Canet’s follow up to TELL NO ONE starring Oscar winners Jean Dujardin and Marion Cotillard; Mathieu Demy’s acclaimed drama AMERICANO starring Demy and Salma Hayek; and Eric Lartigau’s thriller THE BIG PICTURE starring Romain Duris and Catherine Deneuve.

MPI Pictures, which will specialize in the release of foreign language art house, high end genre and American independent films, will be overseen by Greg Newman, Executive Vice-President of MPI Media Group. Newman has assembled a team of well-respected distribution and marketing executives from the art house and independent film arenas for MPI Pictures. It is led by Head of Theatrical Distribution MarieTherese Guirgis who will be attending the Cannes Film Market with Newman on a buying mission.

“The audience for commercial foreign language and independent films remains a flourishing niche in the marketplace,” said Newman on launching MPI Pictures. “With the launch of our theatrical division we have the ability not only to release completed feature films that we acquire but also to release our own original productions. The commercial appeal of all our films reaches across all distribution platforms from theaters to Video On Demand, digital, DVD and beyond. MPI Pictures allows us to expand our reach in the marketplace with integrated in-house marketing, publicity and distribution in all media,” Newman concluded.
